Sugar Tour (Tour de Azucar)
Price (2014): Adult 39 USD / Child 30 USD

The half-day excursion will take you to the beautiful Cuban countryside and sugar cane plantations to learn more about the sugar industry. You will visit an old traditional sugar mill factory and learn about the process form the sugar cane to the final product, taste a freshly squeeze “guarapo” (sugar cane juice), see the manual cutting process in the fields, and then ride onboard an old steam train built in 1875 up to the Cardenas train station.

You will then do a panoramic tour of the city of Cardenas (a.k.a the Flag City) with its many monuments; this is where the Cuban national flag was first flown in 1850. You will visit the “Oscar Maria de Rojas” museum and have free time at the /Jose Antionio Echevarria” Park before getting back to Varadero.
