Parque Central (and Parque de las 8000 Taquillas)

Address: Avenida 1 between Calles 44 and 46, Varadero

The two parks are located across the street from each other in downtown Varadero.

The Parque Central is a little city park where you can find a beautiful monument in honour of the national hero Jose Marti and the big "Monumento a los Martires" (Martyrs monument). The park is also next to a large artisan open-air market where you can find a large selection of handicrafts and souvenirs.

The Parque de las 8000 Taquillas (Park of the 8000 cubicles) was completely remodeled and is now called the Centro Comercial Hicacos where you can find many shops and boutiques and also the famous and ever-popular Coppellia ice cream parlour on the second floor.

The name “Parque de las 8000 Taquillas” comes from its original purpose when it was built in the 1960’s. Visitors could leave their belongings in the basement of the park, have access to sanitary installations and restaurants on the first floor, and rent bathing articles and swimsuits.
